I have loved the photography of Genevieve de Manio for as long as I can remember. I think that it was a gorgeous mound of white flowers being held by the bride in the first photo that I saw of hers. They way that the soft and subtle nuances of the flowers were dappled with light captivated me. I had been so wanting to work with her, so I was thrilled when I called to inquire about her services for my lovely princess bride, Kim and she said yes!! Yeah. Her work on the wedding held at the luxurious Regatta Place in Newport was gorgeous. She captured the rich and vibrant color of the decor and the flowers in a most perfect way. Of course, the photos of the bride and the groom were heartfelt, I could actually feel the love.
Never in a million years did I have any idea that this photographer was on the brink of world famous. In the two weeks that followed Kim's wedding, I woke early on a Sunday morning to read about Chelsea Clinton's wedding. I was thrilled to see Gigi, stretched out in one of the photos, strapped with cameras and capturing the most famous wedding of recent times. How thrilled I was for her to be the official photographer to the Clinton wedding and to have her worked published all over the world. Of course, that meant that my bride Kim's wedding went to the next level too. There are not that many gals that can say they had the same photographer as Chelsea Clinton right?
I think that it is fitting to leave you here with these four Black and white wedding portraits of Kim and her Groom, Brendan. Their smiles and the elegance of the setting along the shores of Newport Rhode Island tell the whole story to this wedding. There is no need for color here, the photos are clearly the color of love. Many thanks to Genevieve de Manio for working with me on this Regatta Place Wedding, your photography is gorgeous. I so look forward to the honor of working with you again.
I thought that I would include this great clip from E Entertainment about Chelseas wedding so you would have a chance to see the still shots done by Gigi. Click the Arrow to play.

Kimberly and Brendan are getting married this Summer in Newport, Rhode Island. It made all the sense in the world to use this world class setting as the backdrop to their engagement portraits, which we went out and took yesterday. What a gorgeous day! Kimberly and I have been working hard over the past year to plan her wedding to perfection. She is so sweet and her groom, Brendan is a gem, it has made the wedding almost easy.
In the course of our planning, I have worked on all sorts of things for this wedding celebration. From sketches, to cakes and ribbons in three shades of purple. We talked about engagement photos as a memory of this exciting time. I agreed as a friend of the family to go out and do this as my gift to the couple and as a special thanks for all of the work that they have entrusted my firm to do. Now this is an important part of the story as we were all nearly arrested on the grounds of the Mansion.
We had asked to take some photos inside the mansion earlier in the day and the answer came back, no. That required a whole chain of command and paperwork, fees, etc. Who knew?
We made the most of the awesome weather and headed out on to the majestic lawns and a magnificent garden folly constructed as a Chinese Tea House. If you know me, then you know that I love a good Asian motif. There were lots of people taking photos as this is allowed on the grounds of the mansions provided you have tickets and we did.
Not too many clicks into the shoot we were ambushed by the head of the mansion as she told us that we could not take photos. I could not receive compensation for the photos that I was taking of Kimberly and Brendan. I answered truthfully. So for the record, these photos are my gift to you, my friends.
I look forward to each and every one of our meetings and look forward to the final details coming together for your wedding. Until then enjoy this glimpse into an incredible day. So many thanks first for rockin' the black patent leather pumps with a peep toe and your perfect red toenail polish. Love it! Second to both you and Brendan for being great subjects and to the incredible lobster lunch laced with tequila. And last but not least to my friend in the biz Jacki Norrie of Tresses for making Kim's hair red carpet glam!
Newport Rhode Island has to be one of the most glamorous places on the east coast to be married. For centuries it has been defined as a tony escape for the well to do. There are so many places to consider hosting an event that it is sometimes hard to make a choice.
My bride, Kim and I have chosen the fabulous Regatta Club on the Newport Waterfront. There is a wonderful tent filled with billowing fabric and a classic teak floor which will be the perfect backdrop for the decor and details that we are planning in shades of purple, hence the purple haze. I have brought together some of the best vendors in the industry to help make this a once in a lifetime day for my bride.
I have asked Gigi DeManio to photograph the day starting with a simple ceremony in Bristol and through our incredible reception on the water. Once we are at the reception, we will get the party started with D.J. Raffi, his incredible music, and a cool lighting display to wash the room in shades of watery turquoise. As a special detail, a floral motif that I will custom create for the print material will be used again as a starting point for an incredible lighting display on the dance floor.
I am thrilled to be working with Kim, her family and such an amazing group of people. This will be a showstopper and I can hardly wait to have some cookies from the cookie bar. YUMMY !
I love when I am called on to do just the flowers for the wedding. There are so many talented and creative brides out there along with wedding planners and industry professionals that call on me to work on arrangements for weddings and parties. I love seeing my lush, romantic, signature flowers against the pretty dresses and on the billowy cloths of the tables and of course in the hands of my gorgeous brides.
I was so lucky to be called on by the Paglucia family to be the floral designer and stylist for their daughter Sarah's wedding at the ultra modern Belle Mer on Newport Harbor. Longwood Events has done it again with their inspired take on Newport weddings. Long known as a bastion of wealth from the gilded age, Newport has long been know as an epicenter of New England parties and weddings. I love working there at fabulous facilities like Belle Mer.
Sarah was one cool bride, she had seen my work several times before both at family friends and of course her sister's wedding. She said to me CMP, do your thing, so that I did. I chose rich plum and fuscia tones and mounded them in gorgeous arrangements for the guest's dinner tables. For a little added pop of color, I chose deep aubergine linens and placed deep pink phaleonopsis orchids on them through out the cocktail area of her reception.
I love being a guest at the wedding, so honored, so touched to be among so many people that I have celebrated with before. It is hard to believe that it has been five years since I first met Leila, another family friend that started this whole chain of weddings. Congratulations Sarah. Thank you so very much for having me as part of your incredible day. To my pal Bunky, thank you for the slow dance to Celine Dione. It is my favorite wedding memory.
Many thanks to Jim Sun from Sun Photographics, for his amazing photography of a gorgeous bride and groom.
