Black and White Wedding

Working with Amy to plan her gorgeous late spring wedding was so much fun. She came to me to help her pull together the details for this black and white wedding. Her first inspiration picture that she showed me was made up of all carnations. She worried that it would be tacky to use them. I told her that I am an equal opportunity florist and that all flowers can be chic, when done right. Learning that Carnations were her grandmother's favorite flowers, led me to believe that it was Amy's destiny to celebrate surrounded by the sweet scented carnations.

The photos of her wedding day are so chic to me. She looked amazing in a modern, retro inspired gown and cathedral length veil. She carried a lush bouquet of white peonies and crystal studded miniature carnations. I love the color shot of their rings against the modern black and white damask. She celebrated her ceremony and reception at the historic 5 Bridge Inn. I love the long lawn and stately main house which is lovely in white with black shutters.

I love when wedding decor is on display throughout the whole wedding. It gives guests a chance to see the amazing details up close, and gives a beautiful, romantic air to the room. Here, the bridesmaids bouquets of carnations studded with pearl headed orchids and wrapped in black organza look cool when displayed on the mantel and provide additional romantic decor to this stunning wedding.

Instead of using all black and white, I decided to add a bit of shimmery charcoal in the linens. I love the fluttery detail of the cloth against the bold black and white accents through the room. To end the evening Amy served a perfect, and my personal favorite, black and white Oreo's dipped in chocolate. Love when all of the details are so simple, chic and perfect.

Many thanks to , for your stunning capture of Amy's day. Your black and whites are just so appropriate to the story.
